A benchmark reindustrialization operation
Coteaux et Landes de Gascogne will welcome SWISS KRONO, a company planning to build an OSB (Oriented Strand Board) production plant based in Fargues sur Ourbise. This company will reinforce the region’s re-industrialization dynamic around local wood processing, with an initial production target of 420,000 m3 per year.
Located in the Landes de Gascogne massif, Europe’s 1st largest cultivated forest, the “Orpinia” project will help meet the strong growth in demand for OSB wood panels in the construction sector, both in France and for export (notably to Spain and Portugal).
The new plant will be powered by a 26-kilometer 63 KV underground power line built by RTE.
A dynamic region
On the social front, SWISS KRONO expects to create 350 to 400 direct and indirect jobs on the site. It ensures that new residents will settle in, live, consume, and contribute to maintaining local economic activity. This will also bolster and safeguard our rural public services, starting with our schools. On the economic front, SWISS KRONO has undertaken to give preference to the local economic fabric for the construction and industrial maintenance of the plant.
