Heritage :

Situated on a hill 147 meters above sea level, overlooking the Argenton stream, which flows into the Avance river, the town center offers superb views. From here, you can see the valley between Casteljaloux and Marmande and, in fine weather, the Pyrenees.

Further down, at Clavier, you’ll find a range of shops, including a multi-service center, bank, gas station, garage and pharmacy, as well as health professionals and craftsmen.

Bouglon has an interesting heritage. There’s a 12th-century Romanesque church in Bouglon Vieux and a 14th- and 15th-century Gothic church in the town center. Similarly, if you talk to the village elders about school, they’ll tell you it’s a castle: the local school is housed in the former 13th-century seigniorial castle (all that remains is a machicolated turret). Don’t forget to pass by the 19th-century bread oven, with a remnant of the medieval ramparts recently restored to their original condition. The oven is used on a number of occasions, including the Fête du Pain on the first weekend in July.

It’s also a village brought to life at different times of the year by the many associations in the area.

Life in this village is pleasant, relaxing and surrounded by nature. Over the past fifteen years, more than a hundred new residents have joined our village, which now has a population of 646.
