The SCOT or Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale is an urban planning document that provides a shared vision of the territory over 20 years, in terms of welcoming inhabitants and housing, mobility, economic and commercial development, or preserving and enhancing agricultural and natural areas. It concerns 107 communes, or 91,000 inhabitants.

On December 9, 2019, the syndical committee prescribed the launch of the general revision of the Val de Garonne Guyenne Gascogne SCOT, with the following main objectives:

• take into account the conclusions of the Val de Garonne SCOT assessment,
• integrate the 3 new communities of communes that have joined the SCOT perimeter (Coteaux et Landes de Gascogne, Pays de Duras, Pays de Lauzun)
• adapt the SCOT to legislative and regulatory changes (notably the Loi ALUR, Loi ELAN, SRADDET Nouvelle Aquitaine, SAGE Vallée de la Garonne…),
• take into account the evolution of local projects and approaches,
• enhancing the region’s attractiveness: defining a development strategy for the region that guarantees a high-quality living environment for all present and future residents,
• balanced development of the region: assert the region’s position by making the most of its assets (its geographical location, its residential and economic appeal, its cultural and tourist potential, its agricultural economy, etc.),
• a project focused on ecological and energy transitions: developing a strategy for anticipating climate change and reducing the area’s vulnerability.

This revision will be approved in September 2025.
